Tractor Day

Today was Tractor Day at the high school.  One day each school year, the students and teachers are encouraged to ride their tractors to school.  The tractors are parked on the front lawn, arranged by make and model–or “by color,” as a little boy told me.  Farmall, John Deere, New Holland, Kioti, Kubota, Allis Chalmer, and more.  I believe the FFA gives out awards for the tractors.  There were more than fifty tractors this year.  In the photo is the front row;  there is another row behind.  See the silos in the distance?  There were even some lawn tractors, a toddler’s pedal tractor, and some custom-made creations.  No Amish equipment, though (or should I say horses?).  I should have brought my wheel hoe and JD lawn mower!

Yeah, maybe we are a bunch of hicks out here…  I’m glad our school and community are proud of our agricultural heritage–and future!
